Risk & Uncertainty in Post-modern Societies

Risk in modern societies increasingly needs to be carried by the individual as Welfare State models come under global pressures to be competitive. However where is the 'social' in an individualized world? This as well as issues of how individuals reflect upon their social position and cope with risk/ uncertainty will be discussed in the course of the seminar. There will be opportunity to engage on how a new social world may be emerging from the structures of the past.
